The City of Pismo Beach is celebrating some renovations to the Pismo Beach Sports Complex.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday afternoon at Blair Field.

Improvements to the ball fields came after a recent pipeline safety enhancement project by SoCal Gas. The fields needed to be shut down during the work, but once completed, SoCal Gas reconstructed the outfield and installed a new scoreboard at Blair Field.

“It’s a tremendous improvement to what we had before. We are excited we have a brand new scoreboard, brand new field, it’s gonna be a great benefit to all the youngsters playing the Five Cities Youth Baseball,” said Ed Waage, Pismo Beach Mayor.

The fields were closed for about six months while the work was underway.

An estimated 550 kids play on the fields at the Pismo Beach Sports Complex, which is located at 550 Frady Ln.
