Santa Barbara residents without power after car crash downs power line

UPDATE (2:15 a.m.) – According to Southern California Edison’s power outage map, crews are at work restoring power.

As of now about 542 Edison customers are without power.


About 1,145 Santa Barbara residents are without power near Foothill Rd. and Willowglen Rd after a car crashed into a power line pole, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

The crash happened just before at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire department said one car hit a power line pole, causing the entire power line to fall down. They said there were minor injuries.

Caltrans closed Foothill Rd. at the Willowglen intersection to repair the downed power line.

As of 2:02 a.m. on Wednesday, the fire department said all responding units had left, but they said Southern California Edison was at the scene.

According to Edison’s power outage map, 1,145 customers are affected by the outage.
