The San Luis Obispo Color Blast Fun Run is Saturday morning at Laguna Middle School and it’s guaranteed to be a colorful event.

The non-competitive 5k run has a twist because the audience covers runners in multi-colored, special dust made of corn starch. When the race is over, participants look like rainbow masterpieces.

Participants are advised to wear clothes they are okay throwing away because some of the paint could be hard to take off.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Alex Maier Memorial Scholarship and the Black and Gold Boosters in honor of San Luis Obispo High School soccer player Alex Maier who was killed in a car crash.

According to the events Facebook page, the fun run was created to help fund scholarships in honor of Maier and to promote a day of fun for people in the community.

The SLO Color Blast Fun Run is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Laguna Middle School.
