Students and staff at Bonita Elementary School in Santa Maria are celebrating the reopening of their school soccer field.
The grassy playground was closed at the beginning of the school year to be completely graded and re-seeded.
On Friday, the students held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially reopen the field. The school’s band performed “Baby Shark” and the Bonita News TV team filmed the event.
The idea to refurbish the field came from the school’s K-Kids Club. Each year, club members brainstorm ideas to improve their school. Last year, they purchased movable soccer goals and nets.
