The two people killed in a head-on crash on Highway 166 East over the weekend have been identified as Ashley Nicole Castillo, 29, and Brian Scott Adams, 29, both from Bakersfield, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash, which left both vehicles involved heavily damaged, was reported at about 12:34 p.m. Saturday near Rock Front Ranch in Cuyama.
Castillo and Adams were both in a Honda Accord. Three women in their early 20s in the other vehicle are Cal Poly students from San Luis Obispo and sustained minor to major injuries, according to CHP.
One of them was airlifted to the hospital. The other two were transported by ambulance.
CHP on scene said they believe the crash happened when one of the drivers pulled into the oncoming lane to pass traffic.
