Some young players on the Central Coast got a chance to learn from big leaguers this weekend.

The 4th annual Major League Baseball Players Alumni Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic was held in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo.

The more than 200 participants in San Luis Obispo got a chance to learn from some of the pros, from pitching to hitting to even some life lessons.

One of the returning participants, Winston Campbell, says it’s pretty cool to get taught by former players.

“It’s helped me improve to be a better pitcher, too, and it’s helped improve to play catch and throw better with other people,” Campbell said. “I like to know what teams they were on, and how many years they played and you know, everything a kid should want to know about a major league baseball player.”

The free clinic was held Saturday at Sinsheimer Stadium in SLO and Sunday at Elks Field in Santa Maria.
