Two people are dead and two others are seriously injured following a crash off Highway 166 east in Cuyama near Rock Front Ranch, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The crash was reported around 12:34 p.m. Saturday.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s Public Information Officer Daniel Bertucelli said it was a head-on collision about three miles west of Rock Front Ranch.
He said two cars were heavily damaged and five people were involved in the collision.
Bertucelli said two people, who were in the same car, died.

Two people suffered serious injuries and one person was “moderately” hurt.
One of the two people who was seriously injured was transported to a nearby hospital via a Cal Star helicopter. The other two people hurt were taken to a local hospital by an ambulance.
Bertucelli said the condition of the three people injured is unknown at the time.
Highway 166 was closed to land the helicopter.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident page, there is currently alternating traffic on Highway 166.
