The wait for Target to open its doors in Santa Barbara is now over.

The small-format store at 3891 State St. opened in the Galleria this week, near the intersection of State Street and La Cumbre Road.

The small-format stores are designed to serve people where a full-size store typically wouldn’t fit.

A grand opening celebration is set for Sunday, April 7. Target says the first 1,000 customers will get a free reusable tote bag.

About 80 new team members were expected to be hired for the new location.

The store offers an assortment of beauty items, baby and children’s products, men’s and women’s apparel, portable technology products, and food and beverage items, according to Target.

Plans are in the works for another Target store to open in Goleta.
