Police investigating fatal crash in Santa Maria

UPDATE (6:40 p.m.) – Santa Maria police say a woman driving a tan-colored sedan was killed in a crash with an Apex Auto Glass pickup Thursday evening.

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation but police say the woman was headed northbound on California Blvd. when she was struck by the pickup which was headed eastbound on Union Valley Parkway. The pickup truck reportedly had the right of way.

The woman’s name has not yet been released as police are working to notify her family.


 

(6:10 p.m.) – The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday.

It occurred at the intersection of Union Valley Parkway and California Blvd.

Police say two vehicles were involved and one person was killed in the crash.

Union Valley Parkway was closed to traffic between Blosser Rd. and Foxenwood Ln. Police say it’s expected to remain closed for up to eight hours for their investigation.

No other details were immediately released.
