Paso Robles police are investigating a robbery that resulted in injuries to a drug store loss prevention officer.
Officers say an unidentified man in his 20s went into the Rite-Aid store at 24th and Spring Streets at about 9:30 p.m. Monday and stole several items.
Police say the man got into a white pickup truck in the parking lot and the loss prevention officer ran after him.
The victim’s uncle tells KSBY the loss prevention officer was nearly struck by the vehicle and he grabbed onto the truck to try to prevent himself from getting run over.
He was reportedly dragged for several blocks, suffering a broken elbow, injured shoulder, and road rash.
He was expected to undergo surgery Tuesday afternoon, according to his uncle.
Paso Robles police are currently investigating the incident and requesting surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
