U-Haul is taking over the property that previously housed the Santa Maria Kmart.
Kmart closed its doors for good in early March.
U-Haul’s president says the company is working to obtain permits for storage and truck rental at the location, but those permits aren’t expected to come through for another year.
In the meantime, they’re open for retail sales, including boxes, packing tape, and other moving supplies.
A grand opening is scheduled for Monday, April 8.
It’s located on Santa Maria Way at Sunrise Dr.
