The City of San Luis Obispo has issued contingent operator permits to five cannabis businesses seeking to open up shop in the city.

Three retail businesses received the permits — Megan’s Organic Market, Natural Healing Center – SLO, and Elemental Wellness.

Coastal Delivery SLO, LLC received a permit for a non-storefront delivery business, and Element 7 San Luis Obispo received a permit for a non-storefront microbusiness.

The city says the applicants still must pass background checks before receiving official Cannabis Business Operator Permits. They’ll also then need to obtain additional permits including use permits and any necessary building permits.

Twelve businesses applied for the Cannabis Business Operator Permits. They were reportedly scored based on criteria including community benefit, experience, equity and labor, messaging, medical retail commitment, property control, and financial investment.
