LeRoy Park in Guadalupe is set to receive some much-needed upgrades.

The city is currently in the early stages of planning the renovations, but the project would include moving the library to the park, adding a new barbecue pit, and fixing any issues with the Boys and Girls Club building.

A $4.5 million grant will be used to pay for the upcoming project.

Guadalupe Mayor Ariston Julian hopes the updates will serve all children in the community.

“There’s over close to 3,000 kids under the age of 18 in Guadalupe and we need a place to play. We need a place for the community to use as a community center,” Julian said.

The Andrew Goodwin Design Group is currently planning the reconstruction of the park.

They want to break ground sometime early next year with an estimated finish date in 2021.
