A teenage girl helped pull her sister and another young girl from the waters near the Pismo State Golf Course earlier this week.

California State Parks Captain Kevin Pearce says staff were dispatched to the call shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, near the Beach Boardwalk.

Once on scene, State Parks says they learned two girls, ages 10 and 15, were swept into a rip current. The 10-year-old was reportedly on a boogie board at the time.

The 17-year-old then went into the water to help her sister and the 10-year-old get out, Pearce said.

The girls were evaluated at the scene and were said to be doing OK after the incident.
