A broken fire hydrant flooded part of a Santa Maria street Tuesday morning.
It happened along the 400 block of West Morrison Avenue.
The City of Santa Maria says a food delivery truck heading to the shelter struck the hydrant at about 7:30 a.m.
An estimated 30,000 gallons of water flowed from the hydrant for between 20 and 30 minutes before crews were able to shut it off.
Repairs were made soon after.
The City says the water is not lost and will go back into the groundwater basin.
