Fesler Junior High School in Santa Maria got a special treat on Friday. Zoo to You ambassadors came to the school and brought some of their wild friends with them.

Those included a mountain lion, porcupine, alligator, and a monkey.

They might seem a little intimidating, but some kids were surprised that the animals were so kind.

“They are actually really nice,” said Eilen Ventura, 7th grader. “I was, like, scared when the mountain lion came in.”

“When you actually meet the animals up close, you make that connection with them, then it makes you want to do something. So we get to watch these guys start pennies for the rainforest programs and local area cleanup and cans for critter drives and stuff because we’ve come and done an assembly for them,” said David Jackson, Zoo to You Director of Conservation.

Zoo to You, which is based in Paso Robles, rescues and rehabilitates wild animals.
