The San Luis Obispo Earth Day Alliance announced their theme for 2019 Earth Day Wednesday.

The theme is  “Bee the Change.” The poster was designed by Cal Poly Student David Carter.

The alliance also announced they will have a fair and music festival to celebrate the holiday.

Earth Day Alliance Director Sandra Marshall said Earth Day is all about respecting the earth and their event will celebrate nature, educate and encourage people to live a better life that is good for the environment.

“There will be a lot of non-profits here that are maybe doing something for the environment,” she said. “There could be businesses here that maybe are not for the environment but they support a green movement, so it’s a day to just share with others and support the community because it’s not out there otherwise.”

Earth Day falls on Monday, April 22 this year, so the San Luis Obispo Earth Day Alliance will host their fair and festival on Saturday, April 27 at Laguna Lake Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The music lineup includes:

  • Back Bay Betty
  • Dudeo Perez
  • Mighty Croon Dogs
  • Jill Knight & the Daylighters.

The event is completely free.

For the first time this year, they will not be serving any meat during the event.
