Hundreds of people showed up at Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo to take part in the fourth annual Love SLO Community Wide Service day that is all about making the area a better place to live in.

Love SLO is inspired by the desire to meet the needs of local community members, to demonstrate kindness and impact people lives.

Special Olympics San Luis Obispo was just one of the several organizations that hosted unique events to better the community.

They had a unified basketball game, where people with and without intellectual disabilities teamed up and competed side by side with each other.

“We use a unified opportunity just to show people that  we have a lot more in common than we don’t and that’s something we want to highlight about our athletes, that they’re just like everyone else,” Special Olympics volunteer Laura Jacobson said.
