Cal Poly varsity track team suspended over hazing allegations

Cal Poly’s varsity track team is being suspended from seven competitions in March and April.

The San Luis Obispo university says senior team members engaged in hazing and initiation of newer members and violated university alcohol policies.

Cal Poly officials say the hazing included “unsafe and inappropriate behavior, including making alcohol available to underage members, coercion to drink, forced exercising, and a scavenger hunt that included sexually explicit items.”

University investigators are reportedly looking into whether any individual student’s behavior violated the student code of conduct.
