A candlelight vigil to honor a young mother who was found murdered at her Heritage Ranch home is planned for this weekend.
Carrington Broussard was found dead this past Sunday. Authorities say the 27-year-old, who was nine months pregnant, was stabbed to death by her boyfriend.
Broussard worked at Rock ‘N’ Robles Pizza in Paso Robles. The vigil will be held there this Sunday, March 10.
Her co-workers are now struggling with the loss of their friend.
“It’s hard to work here still just knowing that she’s not going to walk through the doors again and not going to be here again,” said Shane Stewart. “It’s just really hard.”
We’re told Broussard worked at the restaurant for at least six months.
“She was always really like happy, always fun to work with, really exciting,” Stewart explained.
Her last day was last Thursday, about a week before her due date.
The mother of two, ages 2 and 4, with a baby boy on the way, was well-liked by everyone.
“She was overall just one of the nicest people you would ever meet,” Stewart said.
The family has a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses for the Paso Robles High School graduate.
Her cousin wrote on the website, “Carrington was a very loving and outgoing person. Family was always first in Carrington’s eyes. She was a big-hearted person who always spoke truth and could put a smile on anyone’s face.”
“She was an amazing girl and everyone really misses her,” Stewart concluded.
Rock ‘N’ Robles Pizza is located at 2140 Heritage Loop Rd. The vigil is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, 31-year-old Daniel Raul Rodriguez Johnson, who is charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Broussard and their unborn child, appeared in a San Luis Obispo courtroom.
He did not enter a plea. The judge continued the arraignment to next week and granted the prosecution’s request to hold Johnson without bail.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office says, if convicted, Johnson could face up to life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
