A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday to celebrate the grand reopening of the Dinosaur Caves Park playground.

The playground was renovated to add new equipment for children of all ages to explore and play.

The City of Pismo Beach says the old playground equipment did not encourage active play. The new equipment is intended to be physically and mentally challenging.

It was designed to include areas for both young kids and older children up to age 12.

Construction began late last year.

In total, Dinosaur Caves Park covers 11 acres and also includes a large grassy area and amphitheater for entertainment events.

It’s located at 2701 Price St.
