A drunk driver sustained major injuries in a rollover crash Monday night in Orcutt, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It happened just after 6:30 p.m. at Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road.
Officers say Colin James Murray, 28, of Orcutt, was heading northbound on Orcutt Road when he drove onto the sidewalk and hit a traffic signal. His vehicle then reportedly overturned in the intersection, hitting the back of another vehicle making a left-hand turn at a green light.
Murray’s car continued through the intersection and eventually stopped on its roof in a drainage canal. He was extricated, arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The other driver, also 28 of Orcutt, was uninjured.
Crews will work Monday to make repairs to the light pole.
