The La PAWS animal shelter in Lompoc is asking for donations of pet food for cats, dogs, and rabbits.

The shelter has a pantry that is kept stocked with pet food for those who can’t afford to buy food for their pets, and shelter managers say the need is great in the City of Lompoc right now.

“Dogs and cats are so important to us, especially I think if you’re low income your pet could be even more important to you, so it’s just a place you can come in, get some food to get you by,” said Dori Villalon, Santa Barbara County Animal Services Interim Director.

Villalon says the pantry has been busy. Often times, people who take food from the pantry will donate back when they can.

If you’d like to donate, food can be dropped off at the shelter located at 1501 W. Central Ave. in Lompoc.
