UPDATE: Morning crash closes portion of Hwy 101 near Nojoqui Grade

We have officers placing themselves in danger every day to ensure you and your' loved ones get to where they need to be, safely. UPDATE (1:30 p.m.) – According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when two vehicles headed southbound spun out and one of the vehicles struck a CHP officer’s car.

The officer was stopped in the center median of Highway 101 just north of Highway 1, waiting to pull back into traffic, after responding to two other collisions.

Those involved suffered only minor injuries.

The CHP is continuing to investigate.


 

UPDATE (11:15 a.m.) – The highway was back open shortly before 11 a.m. Minor injuries were reported. 


 

UPDATE (8:32 a.m.) – CHP is reporting two northbound lanes and one southbound lane have been closed from the top of the summit to Highway 1.


 

UPDATE (8:21 a.m.) – A crash reportedly involving a California Highway Patrol vehicle closed one lane of southbound Highway 101 just south of the Nojoqui Grade Thursday morning.

California Highway Patrol logs show it happened at about 7:42 a.m. when a CHP unit attempting to turn was hit in the center divider.

Up to three vehicles may be involved.

The extent of any injuries was not immediately known but logs did not show an ambulance was requested.

One lane was closed as of 8:07 a.m. from just south of the summit to Highway 1.

No other information was immediately available.
