Cracker Barrel officially opened it’s doors Monday morning in Santa Maria.

On Friday, 100 business leaders and community members gathered at the newest California location for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The restaurant, which is best known for its southern-style cooking, is the third one to open in California.

Santa Maria resident Kara Miller was one of those who got to check out the restaurant Friday and this isn’t her first time eating at a Cracker Barrel.

“I’ve been with family out in Virginia before and on road trips, like through Santa Fe, New Mexico we’ve stopped,” Miller said. “It’s just a great place to stop and wholesome food instead of junk food.”

It’s a place where you can eat and shop.

Right outside the dining area is the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store that sells home decor items including their iconic rocking chairs.

“I think the big draw for me having young children is the shop and the rocking chairs,” Miller said. “My kids love to come sit in the rocking chairs, play the checkers, check out all of the treats and games out there in the country store.”

Between the restaurant and store, it will have 225 full and part-time employees. Representatives from the restaurant say it will be open seven days a week only closing on Christmas.
