More than 65,000 students have applied for admittance into Cal Poly for the 2019 fall quarter.
Cal Poly says of the 65,155 applications received, 54,060 are for freshman and the rest are transfer students.
The number is up from 2017 when the university received around 57,000 applications for the fall quarter.
Cal Poly previously announced plans to reduce enrollment numbers in the year 2020 after more students than were expected accepted admission offers in 2017.
Cal Poly says it is in the process of selecting applicants for the upcoming fall quarter and expects to complete the process before the April 1 selection deadline.
