Santa Barbara County Public Works has installed a camera at the San Ysidro Debris Basin above Montecito, which allows the county to monitor activity in real time.

The camera was installed to provide a visual record of the runoff and effects to the debris basin as it fills up with water and debris during a storm. Monitoring the camera also helps alert the California Highway Patrol of imminent flooding on Highway 101.

The time-lapse video below is from February 2, when a heavy storm hit the area.

Our camera at the San Ysidro Debris Basin allows us to monitor any activity in real time. Monitoring this camera helped us alert the @chp to the imminent flooding of Highway 101. This time lapse video shows when water was spilling over the basin on the morning of 2/2/19.
