The Mud Creek area of Highway 1 in Big Sur will reopen to traffic at 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to Caltrans.
Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide were closed on Friday, Feb. 1, in anticipation of several days of stormy weather. Both areas are prone to landslides.
Caltrans says road crews are currently working to remove dirt, rocks and debris from the highway. Because of heavy mud and boulders on the roadway at Paul’s Slide, that section of the highway will remain closed until 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Drivers passing through the Mud Creek area will also encounter one-way traffic control on Wednesday while crews continue to do work in that area.
