In just one year, the number of middle school students using e-cigarettes rose 48 percent nationwide. A recent San Luis Obispo survey found three percent of 7th graders and 11 percent of 9th graders admitted using e-cigarettes.

Now, students at Laguna Middle School in San Luis Obispo are taking a stand against underage vaping through a special photo narrative event at SLOMA.

The school’s Friday Night Live Club unveiled their photos to the public on Monday afternoon. Each student photographer attended the special event to talk about the inspiration behind their photos.

The student photos each include a short description of how the image relates to nicotine product use among teens.

The exhibition, hosted by the SLO Museum of Art at 1010 Broad Street, will be on display through February 17.
