Santa Barbara County Environmental Health Services is reminding people to stay away from storm water after Saturday morning’s storm.

The press release issued Saturday afternoon said storm water is untreated rainwater that flows through the drainage system, into the creek and the ocean. Contact with storm water can increase someone’s risk for certain illnesses.

They advise sports harvesters to wait 10 days after significant rain to go back into the ocean. They say people should avoid contact with storm water three days after a rain event.
