Cal Poly offers free tax return preparation assistance

Cal Poly is providing free tax return preparation assistance for Central Coast residents through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

Cal Poly will have on-campus VITA clinics from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays from Feb. 2 through March 16.

VITA will also have clinics in San Luis Obispo, Oceano and Santa Maria, but the sessions will be by appointment.

During the Cal Poly clinics 125 accounting students will help people prepare their taxes. The IRS-certified students will prepare returns that will be reviewed and filed by Orfalea College of Business faculty and volunteer certified public accountants.

The Cal Poly clinics will be on the third floor of the Business Building.

The clinics are on a first come first serve basis.
