The Lompoc Police Department arrested two men after a vehicle pursuit in Lompoc and Vandenberg Village Thursday.

Lompoc Police said officers were traveling southbound on Highway  1 towards Lompoc near the Vandenberg Air Force  Base main gate they saw a car obstructing traffic and swerving. They said officers attempted to do a traffic enforcement stop, but the car wouldn’t pull over. That is when police say officers started pursuing the car.

During the pursuit, police said the car was going at a dangerous and high rate of speed through Vandenberg Village and several streets in Lompoc.

When the car passed the “H” Street bridge police said they lost the car because of heavy traffic in the area.

Eventually, Lompoc police located the car in a residential area thanks to several tips.

When they found the car, police said two men and one woman were seen running away. According to police, the two men started jumping into backyards as they tried to escape.

Eventually, the two men were arrested after they jumped in and out of several homes.

Left: Ernest Gaitan, Right: Angel Montoya

Police arrested Angel Montoya and Ernest Gaitan, who were both on parole.

Montoya was identified as the driver. Police said Gaitan was in possession of methamphetamine.

The woman was located, identified and later released by police.
