UPDATE: Oceano homicide victim identified

(UPDATE 2:30 p.m.) – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man found dead in his Oceano home Thursday as Lawrence Albert Bross.

Officials say an autopsy is underway to determine the 90-year-old’s cause of death.

No arrests have been made.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities were back in Oceano Friday morning continuing their investigation into a man found dead in a home along the 1400 block of Strand Way a day earlier.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the suspicious death investigation is now a homicide.

Search and rescue teams in orange gear arrived Friday morning to search the beach area around the home. At least one dog was being used to aid in the search along with a drone and three ATVs.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Tony Cipolla says they are looking for more evidence as the investigation into the man’s death continues.

The area of Strand Way and Juanita Avenue has been taped off for more than 24 hours.

The sheriff’s office has not yet released the name or age of the victim or provided details on any arrests. More information is expected to be released sometime Friday.

Officials have said they believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public at this time.
