Two southbound lanes of Highway 101 over the Cuesta Grade will be closed starting Wednesday morning.
The middle and right lanes will be closed from the top of the Grade to south of Old Stagecoach Rd. from 9 a.m. on Wednesday until 5 a.m. on Thursday.
Crews will be working to repair the highway where a sinkhole is starting to form, and they’ll remove and replace a failed drainage culvert beneath the lanes.
“What we’re doing is actually very preventative. We want to make sure that a more serious sinkhole doesn’t develop there,” explained Jim Shivers, Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs.
Caltrans says drivers should expect delays of no more than 15 minutes.
