Lockdown lifted at Lompoc High after shooting

UPDATE 12:30 p.m. – The lockdown at Lompoc High School was lifted shortly before noon Tuesday, according to school staff. L Street in the area of the shooting remained blocked off as of 12:30 p.m. due to the investigation.


 

ORIGINAL STORY: Lompoc police are investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in the city.

It happened at around 11 a.m. in the area of Chestnut Avenue and L Street. Police provided few details about the investigation but did say the victim had been flown to the hospital for treatment.

The shooting prompted a lockdown at Lompoc High School, located on the 500 block of College Avenue.

Lompoc Unified School District officials say the lockdown was initiated due to police activity in the area but said students and staff are safe and the incident did not occur on campus. The lockdown remained in place as of 11:20 a.m.
