Body discovered near railroad tracks in Carpinteria

UPDATE (4:40 p.m.) – Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officials say a body found near the railroad tracks in Carpinteria on Monday is that of an adult female, but investigators are still trying to make a positive identification and determine the cause of death.

A passerby reportedly discovered the decomposed body in the 2800 block of Carpinteria Ave. at about 5:45 p.m.

Sheriff’s officials say at this time, there do not appear to be any signs of foul play.


 

(8:44 p.m.) – The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is working to identify a body found near the railroad tracks in Carpinteria.

A sheriff’s spokesperson says a passerby discovered the body at about 5:45 p.m. Monday near the tracks, which run parallel to Highway 101 along the 2800 block of Carpinteria Avenue.

The coroner is working to determine the identification and cause of death.
