The City of Lompoc issued its first commercial cannabis certificate to Leaf Dispensary. The store is now the first recreational cannabis store in Lompoc.
Leaf Dispensary is located on 423 West Ocean near Ryon Memorial Park.
Store employees said they have what they call a “bud bar” where people can see different types of cannabis, and a ‘budtender’ is there to explain the different types of marijuana to them.
Lead ‘budtender’ George Guereca said lots of people showed up to buy weed on Friday.
“We’ve been packed since 10 a.m., it’s been a rush hour. As you can see all the people are coming in one after another it hasn’t stopped,” Guereca said.
As of Friday, the City of Lompoc has approved 10 commercial cannabis use license applications.
The city said 16 applications are pending. There is no word when the next certificate of occupancies will be given out.
