Major injuries were reported when a vehicle hit a pedestrian in Santa Maria Tuesday morning.
It happened at about 5:45 a.m. in the area of Cook Street near Pine.
The Santa Maria Fire Department said Tuesday morning the pedestrian suffered major injuries.
People are asked to avoid the area while police continue their investigation.
Santa Maria police say the driver remained at the scene.
No other information was immediately available.
