Highway 1 south of Big Sur is expected to reopen Monday morning.
The Big Sur Chamber of Commerce says the stretch of highway between the north end of Cambria and the south end at Ragged Point is expected to be open by 10 a.m. after being notified by Caltrans that the slide at Salmon Creek “was not too bad.”
The road was closed Sunday night after rocks fell onto the highway.
Good morning from #BigSur: our crews were out at daybreak clearing rocks, slides along #Hwy1 so road will RE-OPEN at 10am. Thanks for your patience & cooperation, safe travels. pic.twitter.com/9bTaD8P4mm
