At least three babies have made their debuts in Santa Barbara County on New Year’s Day.

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital says Bodie Laim was born at 2:16 a.m. Tuesday weighing 6 lbs., 12 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. He’s the first child for parents Jamie Cherry and Glen Morden, who are from Carpinteria.

It appears Bodie was the first newborn to ring in the New Year in the county.

At around 3 a.m., Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria says a baby was born there.

In Lompoc, a baby girl was born at Lompoc Valley Medical Center at 10:43 a.m.

The hospital says Kalea, whose name means happiness and joy, was 19 ¼ inches long, 6 lbs., 8 oz. and was not due until Jan. 9. She is the third girl for parents Mayra and Darrell Ancheta.

“It’s just awesome,” Darrell Ancheta said. “It’s just special. It’s God’s gift. But they’re all special.”

Kalea was delivered by Dr. Rodney Huss.
