San Luis Obispo County’s longtime Office of Emergency Services manager, Ron Alsop, is retiring this month.
Alsop’s last day will be Friday, Dec. 28.
He’s worked for the county for 28 years, starting as an Emergency Services Coordinator in 1990. He was promoted to Emergency Services Manager in 2007. He is one of the longest-serving top emergency managers in California.
Alsop previously worked as a firefighter.
“It has sincerely been an honor to serve,” Alsop said in a statement released Wednesday.
Emergency manager Joseph “Joe” Guzzardi will fill Alsop’s seat starting Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.
