The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious incident involving a child who was walking home from school last week.
It happened on Thursday, Dec. 13, at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the 300 block of N. San Marcos Rd. in Goleta.
Sheriff’s officials say the eight-year-old girl was walking home from Foothill Elementary School when a woman in a car approached the girl and asked her to get in the vehicle. The student ran away.
The woman is described as being between 30 to 50 years old with shoulder-length blond hair that was partially shaved in the back. Her car is described as a late model, silver, 4-door sedan that may have been a Honda or Toyota. She was reportedly last seen turning westbound onto University Drive from North San Marcos Rd.
Sheriff’s officials say the incident was reported to them on Sunday, Dec. 16, and they are working with the Goleta Union School District as part of their investigation.
