Work is expected to begin as soon as next week on the traffic signals at a busy San Luis Obispo intersection that have suffered several failures this month.
The signals at the Foothill and Broad/Chorro intersection have gone out at least three times so far this month.
San Luis Obispo City Public Works officials say the signals are old and they’ve had a series of electrical failures in the underground wiring.
They hope to start rewiring the entire intersection early next week and finish before Christmas.
The job is expected to take approximately three days. Drivers will experience either dark or flashing red lights during the work.
Drivers are reminded that if they come upon a traffic signal that is not working, they should treat it like a stop sign.
