The Solvang City Council on Monday will discuss plans to build a more than 15,000 square foot cannabis cultivation facility just outside the city limits.

While the project is subject to approval by the County of Santa Barbara, the Solvang City Council may pass a resolution opposing it. If passed, the resolution would be forwarded to the county for consideration as part of the application process for the project.

The facility is proposed for a property in the 900 block of Fredensborg Canyon Road.

Neighbors have expressed concerns about potential traffic and odors related to the project, as well as increased water usage and what the city calls the “opportunity for criminal activity.”

The city council meets at 6:30 p.m. at 1644 Oak Street. It can be viewed live online.
