UPDATE – San Luis Obispo YMCA CEO Monica Grant said in a letter sent to YMCA members on Thursday that the facility would be closed through Friday, Dec. 7, so crews could determine the cause and extent of damage from the ceiling collapse. All classes would also be canceled through the weekend.

Emergency crews responded to the San Luis Obispo YMCA Thursday after reports of a “structure failure.”

YMCA CEO Monica Grant says it happened in the main gym. No injuries were reported.

According to fire officials, there was a partial ceiling collapse in one of the old racquetball rooms. There were people nearby at the time, but nobody was hurt and everyone evacuated safely.

The cause of the collapse is unknown at this time.

Grant says the facility will be closed through Friday, and all classes will be canceled through the weekend.

The YMCA is located at 1020 Southwood Dr.
