Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson and Assemblymembers Monique Limon and Marc Levine hosted a joint hearing Tuesday to discuss California’s emergency alert systems.
Speakers included Thom Porter, Chief of Strategic Planning for CAL FIRE and Kim Zagaris, State Fire and Rescue Chief for the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, as well as local emergency services leaders like Rob Lewin, Director of the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management, and representatives from Ventura, Tuolumne, San Diego, and San Mateo counties.
Experts talked about the lessons learned from recent wildfires, new legislation concerning emergency alert systems, and other ways those systems can be improved.
