With December right around the corner, people on the Central Coast are getting ready for Christmas by finding their tree.
Hidden Tree Farm in Atascadero is a local business you can pick out a tree. It is family-owned and has been around for several generations.
Olivia Dobbs, the granddaughter of the Hidden Tree’s founder, says the local business has survived a drought, competition from big chain tree farms and stayed alive while other tree farms have gone out of business.
“It really is an agricultural product,” said Dobbs. “We grow our trees, it takes seven to 15 years to grow out an average size tree so it doesn’t happen overnight.”
Hidden Tree sells about 800 each year. The first and second weekend after Thanksgiving are the busiest.
