The Lompoc Fire Department is helping residents prepare for the rain by providing sand for sandbags.
The fire department says all residents are welcome to make their own sandbags for the storm by filling up bags at the sand pile across the street from Fire Station 1.
They ask that you bring your own bags to fill, which you can pick up from a number of local hardware stores.
The sand is accessible 24 hours a day. Shovels are provided by the fire department.
“Along your own home on your property, clean out your gutters making sure that the downspouts are all cleared and you can see the flow path of where the water is going to go and that the drainages down to the street are all open and clear of any debris,” said Battalion Chief Brian Federmann, Lompoc Fire Department.
