Two gang-related shootings occurred Monday in a densely populated Lompoc neighborhood injuring a teenage boy.

Officers responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at approximately 4:46 p.m. Monday on the 700 block of North E Street in Lompoc.

According to police, the shooting occurred in a densely populated neighborhood where children are known to play outside.

The shooter is described as a male who was shooting from a moving vehicle at another group of males that are believed to be gang affiliated. Nobody was injured during this shooting.

Police say around eight people were seen running from the area shortly after the shooting happened.

At around 9:11 p.m. that same night, police responded to reports of another shooting in the same neighborhood.

When police arrived, they say they found a 16-year-old male who suffered a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was flown to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara for treatment. His current condition is unknown. Since the victim is a juvenile his name is not being released.

Police say they are unsure if the shooter in the second incident was on foot or in a vehicle. No further details were released.

Police believe both shootings are gang-related.

The investigation is ongoing.
