The Community Action Partnership San Luis Obispo hosted the 24th Annual Benefit Concert at the Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in San Luis Obispo Sunday afternoon.

The organization’s focus is low-income housing and feeding those who don’t have a lot of food. Attendees needed a $10 donation at the door. All donations go to the 40 Prado Project of the Homeless Foundation of SLO County.

Director of Homeless Services, Mychael Castillo, says there are a lot of misconceptions about homelessness.

“I like to always keep the mentality that most people are one bad break from becoming homeless, but those that are homeless are sometimes one good break away from not being homeless,” Castillo said.

Organizers say the concert usually brings in $1,000 to $3,000.

Music, which included Broadway and movie tunes, was provided by the SLO County Band.
